Method of use:
a. After milking the first streams of milk, milk the next streams into individual fields of the milk testing plate (from each quadrant into a separate field).
b. Pour off the excess milk by tilting the plate at an angle of about 45°, leaving the amount of milk for the marker.
c. Add milk testing liquid in a ratio of about 1:1.
d. Holding the plate in a horizontal position, stir the resulting solution in a circular motion.
Method of reading:
1. The mixture remains liquid, homogeneous. No tendency to thicken or form mucus.
Evaluation: 0 - 150,000 somatic cells. No mastitis in the sample.
Good milk without changes.
2. The mixture shows a tendency to mucilage. Presence of fine gelatinous streaks. Best to observe changes by tilting the plate back and forth - observing the mixture moving across the bottom of the plate field.
Evaluation: 150,000 - 400,000 somatic cells - trace suspicion of mastitis in the sample.
Milk good with minor changes. Udder health risk.
3. mixture noticeably thickened and gelatinous.
Evaluation: 400,000 - 800,000 somatic cells - mastitis in the sample.
Sick udder - subclinical inflammation.
4 The mixture thickens immediately, clear gel form. When performing the test, the mixture collects in the center of the plate field, exposing its edges.
Evaluation: more than 800,000 somatic cells.
Inflammation of the udder.
