A diagnostic fluid enabling quick determination of the number of somatic cells in raw milk. It allows for individual control and assessment of the health of the udders, anticipating any visible qualitative changes in the form of fluff, blood or wateriness. How to use: apply a small amount of milk, preferably avoiding the first streams, on the individual areas of the plate dedicated to each quarter. Then we add AvitaTest liquid in a 1:1 proportion to the amount of milk. After mixing, we assess the consistency of the resulting liquid. A thin consistency indicates healthy milk. The thicker the liquid, resembling jelly, the more serious the inflammation. How to read: Mixture remains liquid. No slime or gel forms. - Rating: 0 – 150 000 somatic cells. No mastitis in a milk sample. Good milk, no change. Mixture becomes slimy or gel like. It's seen to best advantage by tipping paddle back and forth, observing mixture as it lows over the bottom of cups. - Rating: 150 000 – 400 000 somatic cells - trace of mastitis in a milk sample. Good milk with slight changes. Udder health hazard. Mixture distinctly forms a gel. - Rating: 400 000 – 800 000 somatic cells - mastitis in a milk sample. Udder sick - subclinical inflammation. Mixture tickens immediately, distinct gel forms. Swirling cup moves mixture in toward center exposing outer edges of the cup. - Rating: over 800 000 somatic cells – udder inflamation.
